Slumdog Millionaire Vs Bollywood: Astro Analysis

Slumdog Millionaire Vs Bollywood: Astro Analysis

In my last article “Transit of Saturn and Bollywood during Recession”, the coming times for Bollywood were discussed. It was plainly stated that Saturn will help the underdogs of the industry who are fighting to survive and who have not been able to win against the established players of the industry. It was also mentioned that a new team of upcoming stars will challenge the established players. The established stars will have to live with fee cuts and reduced offerings.

Here the relevant quote to which I would like to draw attention is “new stars challenging the older stars and giving them run for their money”. The turn of events after Slumdog Millionaire won 8 oscars (8 is very significant because in numerology it is also the number of Saturn) has been on the predicted lines. The lead actress “Frieda Pinto” has got an offer of a whooping 2 to 3 million dollars for her next Hollywood film (as per media reports), a feat which no female lead in India was able to achieve earlier. Though, bollywood actresses have tried their luck in Hollywood, they have only got small and marginal roles in not so popular productions. Hence, we do see youngsters and underdogs giving tough times to even Miss Worlds and Miss Universes.

The second important prediction was “films associated with high moral values will bounce back on production lines”. Saturn, in Vedic astrology stands for the common man. Slumdog Millionaire is a story of struggle of slum dwellers for whom a lowly title “slumdog” was chosen. They lived against all odds including police excesses, human trafficking, gangsters, riots etc and suffered every type of abuse. The story deals with common man with which Saturn is associated. Bollywood produces thousands of films in a year, but they rarely formulate a masterpiece like Slumdog Millionaire. Bollywood films are far away from reality. The production line and commercial film makers never touch the subject of ignorance, poverty and other problems concerning the country. However, Slumdog Millionaire being a commercial success in the world will force producers and directors of Bollywood to make better quality films to earn more.

It is not clear what Aishwarya Rai Bachchan got for her role in “Pink Panther” but it is clear from media reports that “Frieda Pinto” will make 2 to 3 million dollars for her upcoming “Woody Allen” film. The rupees 10 crore to rupees 15 crore bracket remained unachievable by the other lead actresses of India. This shows the powerful effect of Saturn on the underdogs of the film industry.

The Bollywood, is going to change in many ways. There will be adjustments and reductions in the fees of artists. There will be change in the theme of films and the total number of films produced in a single year will also decline.
